Here's my favorite of my wolf photos, and I had it as my desktop background for a while.

Here's one of my greatest passions, the Mexican Gray Wolf. These native wolves that roamed in nearly all of the state and few other parts of the southwest, were entirely exterminated from the United States. They took the last few that they found near the Mexican-American border and started a captive breeding program. While they realeased several in the Gila and Apache National Forests of New Mexico and Arizona, they continue breeding them in captivity until the population is healthier. It is illegal to kill these beauties, yet some jerks still do it. It has been proven that you can prevent wolves from attacking your livestock without hurting them (by playing a CD of a recording of wolves doing a territorial howl), yet people still don't do this. This wolf pack was so bored that they kept trotting around their enclosure, ignoring the people bugging them. This, and many other native animals, are in the Living Desert Zoo of Carlsbad, New Mexico. All of the animals here are either injured, orphaned, with some sort of disorder, or rescued from the wild, and some, such as their red-tailed hawk, were blind or partially blind in one or both eyes.
